WordPress – Remove “Designed with WordPress” Text from Footer

The “Designed with WordPress” text in the footer is a default credit in many WordPress themes. While it’s a great way to promote WordPress, many website owners prefer to remove or replace it with custom text to align with their branding.

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to remove or edit this footer text “Designed with WordPress”.

Before making changes, confirm which theme you are using. Navigate to your WordPress admin dashboard, go to Appearance > Themes, and identify the active theme.

Step 3 – Use the Theme Editor (If No Customizer Option)

If the Customizer doesn’t have an option to modify the footer, you can edit the theme files directly.

Go the File Manager. The File Manager depends on your hosting. They provide a link in your hosting dashboard.

In the File Manager, go to the footer.php or any other footer file which you are using in your theme.

In this example, since we are using Twenty Twenty-Five theme, we go to the footer.php in that theme.

Delete the paragraph highlighted in red box.

The content may not be exactly same as shown in the screenshot, but it gives an idea of how to find that credits section we need to remove.

After making changes, save the file.

Step 4 – Verify the Changes

After making the changes, visit your website to ensure the footer text is updated or removed. Check across multiple devices to confirm the changes are reflected consistently.
