WordPress – Set a Static Page as Homepage
By default, WordPress displays your latest posts on the homepage. However, many websites, especially business or portfolio sites, use a static page as their homepage to provide a more customized user experience.
In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to set a static page as the homepage in WordPress.
Step 1 – Log In to Your WordPress Admin Dashboard
To change your site’s title, the first step is to access your WordPress admin dashboard. Open your web browser and navigate to your site’s login page, usually located at yourwebsite.com/wp-admin
. Replace yourwebsite.com
with the base url of your website. Enter your username and password to log in.

Step 2 – Create a Static Page (If Not Already Created)
If you don’t have a page you want to use as your homepage, create one first. Go to Pages in the WordPress admin menu, click Add New.

Create a page with the content you want to display on your homepage. Enter title, and page content as per your requirement and click on the Publish button.

The page shall be published.

Step 3 – Access the Reading Settings
In the admin menu on the left, go to Settings and click on Reading.

This will open the Reading Settings page where you can configure how your homepage and posts page are displayed.

Step 4: Choose a Static Page as Your Homepage
Under the Your homepage displays section, select the A static page option. Two dropdown menus will appear: one for the homepage and another for the posts page.
Step 5: Select Your Homepage
In the Homepage dropdown menu, choose the page you created or want to use as your homepage.

If you have a separate blog page, select it in the Posts page dropdown menu to designate where your blog posts should appear.
Step 6: Save Your Changes
Scroll to the bottom of the Reading Settings page and click the Save Changes button.

This will apply your changes and set the static page as the homepage.

Step 7: Verify the Update
Visit your website to confirm that the static page is now displayed as the homepage. If the changes aren’t visible immediately, try clearing your browser cache or refreshing the page.
